Aerobus from Madeira airport to Funchal
The Aerobus leaves from the Arrivals area and runs through Funchal to Praia Formosa. It stops near most of the big hotels on the way. Wi-Fi on board is free.

On weekdays a bus leaves the airport every 30 minutes from 08:30 to 12:00, then every hour until 22:00. On Saturdays, Sundays and holidays no bus leaves between 12:00 and 14:00. There's no Aerobus on 25 December.
Pay the driver in cash: €6.70 for an adult, €3.30 for a child aged 6 to 12. Cards aren't accepted on board. Prepaid trips cost €5.55 each and go on a GIRO card. You buy at least two.

The taxi rank is at Arrivals, on the ground floor. Taxis run on the meter. On weekdays from 06:00 to 21:00 the meter starts at €4. It starts at €4.80 from 21:00 to 06:00, and all day at weekends and on public holidays. Both cover the first 1,000 metres.
The luggage or pet supplement is €1.50. Hand luggage under 55 × 35 × 20 cm and up to 25 kg travels free. For more than four passengers the fare rises by 20%.

The Aerobus costs less than any transfer here. Two adult bus tickets cost €13.40. Four cost €26.80. A private transfer for four starts at €45. It takes you to your accommodation.
Take the Aerobus if your hotel is near a stop. The last bus leaves the airport at 22:00, so check you can reach the stop in time. Have cash for the driver.
Take a taxi or a transfer if you arrive too late for the last bus, or if you're staying outside Funchal. The Aerobus ends at Praia Formosa.
Funchal to Madeira airport: Aerobus and taxis
The first Aerobus to the airport leaves Praia Formosa at 07:00. Departures end at 21:00. Allow about 50 minutes for the ride. On Saturdays, Sundays and holidays no bus leaves Praia Formosa between 11:00 and 13:00.
