What the operator writes about each stop
- Pico do Arieiro
At 1,818 metres above sea level, Pico do Areeiro is the third highest point on the island of Madeira. From this elevated location, the view is so vast that it allows observers to gaze out over the unique grandeur of the Madeira Mountain Range, with the Atlantic Ocean in the background.
- On the way
With a total length of 4,09 km, it provides visitors with an immersive experience in the mountainous landscape of the south coast of the island of Madeira
- Balcoes de Ribeiro Frio
The Vereda dos Balcões is a small track, of 1.5 km ( + 1.5 km of return), which leads you to enjoy the views of the Miradouro dos Balcões. Starting at Regional Road No. 103, in Ribeiro Frio, this easy difficulty track, and expected duration of 1h30, accompanies the Levada da Serra do Faial. On the route through Vereda dos Balcões you will have the opportunity to cross with indigenous and endemic species of Madeira, which offer different shades of green to the Laurissilva forest. During the walk, pay attention to the tree species of the Lauraceae family and the exotic species that spread on the banks of the track. - Santana
The “little houses of Santana” have become icons widely known nationally (and beyond) for the peculiar beauty of their architectural style. With a triangular shape and covered in thatch, they are the greatest symbol of this municipality on the north coast of the island of Madeira. In fact, these typical houses are a reflection of the isolation of this location, which for a long time was difficult to access by land and sea. The preservation of unique cultural traits, as a result of this contingency, has become a heritage of enormous value for this municipality, which currently has around 8800 inhabitants.
- Ponta de Sao Lourenco
Ponta de São Lourenço is the long peninsula that forms the eastern tip of the island of Madeira, east of the town of Caniçal. It ends at Farol Island.
- Miradouro do Cristo Rei do Garajau
Last stop at Cristo Rei, with a statue dating back to 1921, and with a stunning view over the Atlantic and the coast of Madeira Island.
- Miradouro do guindaste
ocated on one of the slopes of the mouth of Ribeira do Faial, in the municipality of Santana, the Guindaste viewpoint offers a stunning view over the coastal line of the north coast of Madeira. It is the ideal place to admire the beauty of the Atlantic Ocean that bathes the island.

Get ready for an epic adventure in Madeira! We start at Pico do Arieiro, where you’ll be captivated by breathtaking views of dramatic peaks and the Atlantic. We descend to Poiso, crossing the magical Laurissilva forest, with its centuries-old trees and mist enveloping every step. In Ribeiro Frio, trails and trout farms reveal the exuberance of nature. Cova da Roda offers a haven of serenity, where the silence is broken only by the singing of birds. The thatched cottages of Santana enchant with their vibrant colors and traditional charm, a true postcard. Guindaste presents us with spectacular views of the ocean and the jagged coastline, perfect for photographs. At Ponta de São Lourenço, dramatic rock formations and endless sea amaze, creating a landscape that seems otherworldly. This day promises an experience full of beauty, adventure and unforgettable discoveries!
