PR1 Pico do Arieiro Self-Guided Hiking Transfer (Morning slot)

Before you book

• Travellers must be aged 16 to 65. You need at least moderate fitness.
• Pickup covers Funchal and Caniço only. The return drop-off must be at the same address.
• Book a PR 1 entry slot through SIMplifica. The visitor fee for the section to Pedra Rija is €4.50. PR 3 has no IFCN fee.
• Check the PR 1 status and the PR 3 status before travelling.
• Take warm clothing and drinking water. PR 3 has uneven ground and a long descent.
• The trail ticket is refunded only after an official closure or restriction.
• Give this one a miss if you're pregnant, or if you have a back or spine injury or a heart condition.
• Up to 8 people per booking.

Programme

1. Pickup at your accommodation in Funchal or Caniço at the time sent the day before
2. Drive to Pico do Arieiro, about 1 hour 30 minutes with pickups
3. Map and briefing at Pico do Arieiro
4. Walk the first section of PR 1 to the Stairway to Heaven
5. Follow PR 3 downhill to the Funchal Ecological Park, about 10 km over 5 hours in all
6. Return to your original pickup address by van, about 1 hour 30 minutes with drop-offs

Meeting point, pickup and return

Funchal and Caniço accommodation. Pickup 30 minutes before departure. 108 pickup points listed by the operator.

Pick up is only between Funchal and Caniço. Feel free to manually inserted your adress. The day before the hike it will be asked to confirm your pick up location (via WhatApp or email) Pick up and Drop of locations are the same - its not possible to insert a different location for drop off

Usual timetable: daily, at 08:00. Check your date when you book.

Cancellation, weather and limits

For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.

• 100% refund when cancelled 1 day or more before
• 0% refund when cancelled less than 1 day before

Bad weather can cancel the trip. The trip can also be cancelled if too few people book.
