Our take

For a short visit from a cruise ship, this would be my first choice. It includes pickup at the port. You need at least two adults to book.

You stop at the Fortaleza do Pico for 10 minutes. The tuk-tuk passes Quinta das Cruzes and the cathedral. It also passes the market and old town. A separate photo stop lasts 5 minutes.

Before you book

  • Ask about child bookings before paying. Under-threes cannot join. The child conditions and booking ages differ.
  • Hotel pickup in Funchal and port pickup are included. Book at least 2 hours ahead.
  • If you're on a cruise, agree the return time before booking.
  • Departures run every half hour from 09:00 to 17:00, daily. Check your date when booking.
