This is my pick if you want several photo stops around the centre. It stops at both the Fortaleza do Pico and São Tiago fort. Socorro Church is another stop along the way.
Quinta das Cruzes gets a brief visit. You pass the cathedral and the market. The route also passes through the old town. Admission tickets cost extra.
